An anonymous tip led to the discovery of cocaine Monday evening at a southern Whitley County residence.
About 6:52 p.m., Third-District Constable Dorman Patrick Jr. went to a residence at 1479 Black Oak Road to investigate an anonymous tip reporting suspected drug activity.
When Patrick got to the residence, he made contact with Timothy Chad King, conducted a safety check on King, and felt unknown items in King’s right front pants pocket, according to a release from Patrick’s office.
“A further search revealed the offender to be in possession of a small twisted plastic baggy that contained a white powdery substance that weighed 0.5 grams. The substance is believed to be cocaine. Also located was one hypodermic needle,” Patrick said in the release.
Patrick arrested King, 40 of Jellico, charging him with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
King was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
At a later date, the seized substance will be transported to the Kentucky State Police Forensic Lab for further examination and positive identification, the release stated.
