Keavy man latest arrest in on-going roundup of suspected drug dealers

A Keavy man is the latest in the list of 17 suspected drug traffickers apprehended by Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputy Jake Miller arrested George T. Griffey, 35, Saturday night following a traffic stop on West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. in north Corbin.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said Griffey was wanted on a warrant obtained as part of, Operation November to Remember,” On. Nov. 14, Sheriff John Root and his deputies, with assistance from Kentucky State Police and London Police, attempted to serve the warrants secured following an investigation by Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective James Sizemore and Detective Bryon Lawson.

In addition Miller reported finding a small amount of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, including a syringe and a pack of rolling papers, and a large amount of cash, on Griffey’s person.

Griffey was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Facility on two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine – second offense, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Root stated that additional arrests are pending.
