Calla Monroe “Ron” Smith, Jr., age 80, of Clairfield, TN. passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at his home.
He was born November 21, 1940 in Yokum, Kentucky. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Ron was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the American Legion. He served as a deputy for the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department and was a former Fire Chief of Clairfield.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Calla, Sr. and Nell Fields Smith; son-in-law, Ed LeForce; granddaughter, Tammy Ryder; brothers, Jim Smith, and John Smith; sisters, Lou Stone and Lee Lund; brothers-in-law, Richard Lund and Robert Horrocks
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Sharlene Gulley Smith of Clairfield; daughters, Deanna LeForce of Jellico, Jennifer Huddleston of White Oak, Mindy Belvo and Shelly Black both of Ohio; son, Mark Darrin Smith of Ohio; grandchildren, Hayley Henderson, Alexis Henderson, Logan Henderson, Lisa Ryder, Michael Ryder, Josh Webb, and Scott Webb; step-grandchildren, Kindal Haun and Jessica Hill; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan Smith and Evelyn of Ohio, Ken Smith and Vicky of Ohio, and Larry Dean Smith of Kentucky; sisters, Joann Horrocks of Ohio, Bonnie Stewart and J.R. of Moss, Tennessee and Tammy Cox and Robert of Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.
The funeral was held Monday, July 19, at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Landes officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Cemetery (Wooldridge Community) Jellico, TN. Military honors was by the Jellico Honor Guard. Wayne Davis, Russell Baird, Ken Smith, Dan Smith, Mark Bell and Robert Leach served as pallbearers.
