Protesting masks

Date:

A group of about a dozen concerned individuals gathered outside the Whitley County Board of Education office on Aug. 11 to protest the governor’s mask mandate.

“We are a group of parents standing up for our children’s rights,” said Stacie Reyes. “We do not comply. Rand Paul stated that, and if they are trying to mandate a mask then they can try to mandate other things. We are standing up for our rights and freedoms and especially for our children.”

Another member of the protest, Ashley Warren, said the group chose to protest in front of the Whitley County Board of Education office because, “They are the ones that have somewhat control over our schools.”

“We know that these issues are sent down from the governor, but they have a choice as well,” said Warren. “They need to be more worried about our education and not the health of our children. That is the parent’s job. Their job is to teach and educate our children.”
