Robert Eugene Prewitt, 61, of Corbin, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. He was born on August 14, 1960 in Milton, Massachusetts, to the late Raymond Prewitt and the late Rita (Hurney) Prewitt.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Rona Woo and Regina Godfrey.
Rob is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Debbie (Byrd) Prewitt of Corbin, Kentucky; his three sons, Tim Prewitt, Travis Prewitt (Kayla), and Tyler Prewitt (Tara), all of Corbin, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Haley Prewitt, Cole Prewitt, Hannah Prewitt, and Hudson Prewitt. He is also survived by two sisters, Rita Devlin (Jim) of Charlestown, Massachusetts, and Robyn Flynn (Steve) of Quincy, Massachusetts; his twin brother, Roger Prewitt of Marshfield, Massachusetts; and brothers Raymond Prewitt (Diana) of Weymouth, Massachusetts, and Rich Prewitt (Nina) of Williamsburg, Kentucky. Several nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and a host of other family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers mourn his passing.
Rob loved people more than things. His cup was filled by his interactions with others, especially his family. He loved celebrating others’ victories, but also hurt with their sorrows. He was an ardent fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins – even when they stunk. He was a 31-time consecutive finisher of the Bluegrass 10,000 on the 4th of July in Lexington, and loved to show up for all local road races. Despite wearing flip flops to farm in, he had a green thumb and enjoyed growing banana trees, peppers, tomatoes, and a happy, healthy family.
Funeral services was Saturday, March 26, at Croley Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev. Josh Pollitt officiating. Rob was laid to rest at Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Baptist Church, Whitley County Cattlemen’s Association, or Corbin Backpack Club in his honor.
