Daniel Boone National Forest waives fees for National Public Lands Day

In recognition of National Public Lands Day, the Daniel Boone National Forest will waive all recreation area fees, except concession-operated sites and reserve group-use areas, on Saturday, Sept. 24, including sites in Laurel and McCreary counties.

For members of the public that wish to celebrate the day in the forest, the following area day-use sites will be fee-free Saturday, including:

  • Laurel River Lake – all boat ramps outside of developed campgrounds
  • Bee Rock Boat Ramp – Laurel County
  • Natural Arch Scenic Area – McCreary County
  • Appletree Shooting Range – McCreary County
  • Whitman Branch Shooting Range – Laurel County

On Saturday evening, the following area overnight camping sites will be fee-free, including:

  • Bee Rock Campground – Laurel and Pulaski counties
  • Great Meadows Campground – McCreary County
  • Barren Fork Horse Camp – McCreary County

The Daniel Boone National Forest will also be celebrating National Public Lands Day by hosting a virtual photo contest.

The most-liked photos will take turns as the Forest’s homepage and social media cover photos for the rest of the calendar year. The contest runs through Friday, Sept. 23, at noon.
