ATV, air compressor stolen from Miller Park

Date:

An ATV and an air compressor are missing from a storage area at Miller Park in Corbin following a weekend burglary.
According to Corbin Recreation Director Marlon Sams, thieves broke padlocks off entryways near the concession area in order to get access to a storage room where the equipment was kept. The Honda 350 ATV and the “pull-behind” air compressor are valued at about $2,500.
“Not the best way to start off the new year,” Sams said Tuesday afternoon. “It had to have happened Sunday or Monday. My maintenance guys are up there about every day.”
The park, located off Barton Mill Road, contains two softball fields, tennis courts and a picnic area. The concession area has been a frequent target for vandals and thieves. Sams said plans are in the works to increase security at the site, but added he may have to restrict access to the park until they are complete.
“With the situation like it is now, I just don’t know,” he said. “I have to think about what we need to do.”
The park is mainly used in the spring and summer.
