Whitley County Circuit Court Judge Dan Ballou ordered a new psychiatric evaluation of a man charged with three counts of attempted murder of police officers.
Ronald Tracy Sisk, of Brush Arbor, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, resisting arrest, and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun after a two-hour standoff in January.
During the incident, Sisk allegedly locked himself in his bathroom and fired gunshots in the vicinity of police officers.
Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird previously stated that Sisk was allegedly high on methamphetamine during the incident and was hallucinating, which is a common side effect of using methamphetamine.
No officers were injured during the incident.
In October, Ballou found Sisk competent to stand trial.
During motion hour on Monday, Sisk’s attorney, Jim Wrenn, however argued that the original Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center, KCPC, evaluation of Sisk was incorrect and another evaluation needs to be conducted.
Commonwealth Attorney Ronnie Bowling argued that adequate services have been provided therefore no new evaluation needs to be conducted.
Ballou eventually ruled that Sisk will be sent back to KCPC for another evaluation by a different psychiatrist.
