Baptist Health Corbin’s Silver Ball Gala returning to The Arena

Date:

An agreement has been reached between Baptist Health Corbin and the City of Corbin to, once again, hold the annual Silver Ball Gala at The Arena.

When the initial invitations to the June 9 event were sent out in mid-February, the event was scheduled to be held at the London Community Center.

At the February 26 meeting of the Corbin City Commission, the commissioners asked Mayor Willard McBurney and City Manager Marlon Sams to speak with hospital officials to determine what could be done to change their minds.

“I don’t think this is an event we want to go to London,” said Commissioner Trent Knuckles. “It is a good event. The money they raise goes to a lot of different hospital programs.”

A new announcement was sent out Monday stating that the event would be held at The Arena.

Lee Richardson, Director of Development and Community Health Services at the hospital, said this year’s theme would be, “A Night in Oz.”

In addition to dinner, the event features a silent auction and entertainment.

Richardson said any businesses or organizations that would like to donate items and/or services for the auction may contact her.

“We ask that the donations be valued at $50 or more,” Richardson said adding that items may include things to help promote the business or organization.

Richardson said proceeds from the event would be used to fund the expansion of the hospital’s Neonatology Intermediate Care Nursery (NICU).

“We are going to buy more equipment,” Richardson said.

More information about the event is available by contacting Richardson at (606) 523-2421.

Anyone that would like to donate to the fundraising effort may contact Richardson or mail a check to her care at:

Checks may be made payable to the Baptist Health Foundation of Corbin

Donations are tax-deductible.
