Bernice Chaffin, 86, of Chaffin Road, Williamsburg, departed this life on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at her home.

She was born on February 20, 1932 in Fonde, to the late Jack Hyden and Elsie (Mobley) Hyden.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ken Hyden and a sister, Juanita Gibson.

Bernice was the former Postmistress of the Nevisdale Post Office in Nevisdale, Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Ray Chaffin of Williamsburg; five children, Ted Bowlin (Linda) of Bloomville, OH, Ronnie A. Bowlin (Bonnie) of Fostoria, OH, Pattie Benner of Haines City, FL, Chatter Symons of Jacksboro, TN and Cheri Lewis (Allen) of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Reba Douglas (Russell) of Knoxville, TN; three brothers, Ancil Hyden of Knoxville, TN, Dean Hyden (Lavonda) of Maryville, TN and Don Hyden (Trina) of Clinton, TN; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday, April 4, at Croley Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerome McCullah officiating.

She will be laid to rest following a graveside service at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at the

Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
