Date:

One building was destroyed and two others were damaged as the result of a Friday fire just north of the Kentucky-Tennessee border on U.S. 25 just before noon Friday.

One of the buildings involved was an occupied apartment and dispatchers initially believed someone might have been trapped inside, but officials confirmed later that the apartment was empty at the time.

Assisting at the scene along WFD, were South Whitley, Pleasant View and Emlyn Fire Departments. The Whitley County

Sheriff’s Department, Whitley County Emergency Management Director Danny Moses and Constable Jimmy Thornton all responded to the fire.
