BREAKING: Corbin LLC among recipients of medical cannabis dispensary licenses

Date:

A Corbin LLC was among those selected Monday to obtain a medical cannabis dispensary license.

No 1 Boundary LLC was among the 36 licensees selected during a lottery held Monday afternoon via live stream on the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis’ (KOMC) YouTube channel.

According to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s website, the registered agent is based out of Irvine, California, and is registered in Kentucky through a company in Richmond. The organizer name associated to the LLC is John Malone, who has nearly two dozen originations listed under his name.

At this moment, the News Journal is attempting to verify ownership of that LLC and determine if they plan to open a dispensary in Corbin, Williamsburg or even elsewhere.

Whitley County is part of the Cumberland region, along with Laurel, Knox and a dozen other counties. According to the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis’ website, 258 applications have been turned in from the Cumberland region.

During Monday’s lottery, dispensary licenses for nine of the 11 regions were selected, with a total of 36 selections drawn. The remaining 12 licenses for the other two regions will be selected during a second lottery next month.

Per state law, no more than four dispensaries will be allowed in a particular region, with the exception of the Bluegrass and Kentuckiana regions, which include Fayette County and Jefferson County, respectively. Additionally, no more than one dispensary can be located within a single county.

According to information shared by Gov. Andy Beshear during Monday’s live stream, nearly 5,000 applications were received for dispensary licenses throughout the state.

In the Cumberland region, 258 applications were submitted, though only 220 were included in the lottery as some were disqualified or denied due to various reasons.
