Bunch, Patrick square off in rep. race

Date:

In a year when state and national races dominate the primary election ballot, voters will have one local race in which to weigh in on as Alex Patrick is challenging State Representative Regina Bunch, R-Williamsburg in the 82nd district.

The district encompasses Whitley and southern Laurel County.

Bunch, middle school teacher, was first appointed to the position held by her late husband, Dewayne Bunch, after injuries he sustained while attempting to break up a fight at Whitley County High School left him in a vegetative state in 2011.

Dewayne Bunch later died as a result of those injuries.

Regina Bunch is seeking her third full term.

Patrick is a 2010 graduate of Whitley County High School and veteran of the Kentucky National Guard.
