Carolyn Smith

Date:

On March 27, 2026, we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, Carolyn Smith, known for her warmth, wisdom, and infectious joy.
A woman of strong faith and impeccable character, Carolyn was more than just the gentle matriarch of her family; she was a guiding beacon for those around her. As a devoted member of Mt. Ash Baptist Church, her faith was the compass that guided her through life and the foundation that fortified her family.
Carolyn was born to Grady and Abby Parker, who have preceded her in death; along with her beloved husband, Claude Smith; and cherished son, James M. Smith.
Her legacy of love and guidance will continue to live on through her surviving siblings, Arnold and Blaine Parker; and her loving children, Robin (Sam) Burr, Cindy (Greg) Speicher, and Tim (Melanie) Smith. Carolyn’s life was even further enriched by her grandchildren, Zack Burr (Hannah), Samantha Jones (Donte), Kyle Speicher (Jenna), Elizabeth Hester (Ryan), Brandi Rhoades (Jake), Brooke Siler (T.W), Braylee Smith, Bronson Bates (Jasmine), Griffin Bates, Annie Smith, and Mattie Smith. Her great-grandchildren, Emarie and Kade Rhoades, Nolan Speicher, Hope Jones, Miley Bates, Karsyn and Rosie Hester, will carry her memory in their hearts as they grow, learning about their great-grandmother’s strength, grace, and resilience.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to the power of love and faith. Her unwavering belief in the goodness of people, her ability to find joy in the simplest things, and her strength in facing life’s trials were an inspiration to all. Her memory will forever be a cherished keepsake, her life a story of love woven through the tapestry of her family’s lives.
We encourage all who knew and loved Carolyn to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. As we navigate this time of loss, your stories and shared experiences will serve as a soothing balm, reminding us all of the incredible woman we were privileged to know and love.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 3 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Ash Baptist Church in Williamsburg with Rev. Billy Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Claude Smith Cemetery.
Croley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
