The Whitley County Grand Jury has indicted two Williamsburg residents for murder in connection with the drowning death of a 16-month-old boy on the Fourth of July.
The grand jury issued its monthly report Monday and indicted Robin L. Siler, 57, and Jasmine S. Siler, 22, both of 615 Jr. Rowland Road, charging them with murder, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the incident.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Ronnie Bowling confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Jasmine Siler was the child’s mother.

A local woman was allegedly an occupant in a stolen vehicle when it collided with another vehicle in southern Laurel County earlier this month. Then she left the scene of the accident and got a ride to the Corbin Walmart where she was not permitted on the property, according to her arrest citations.
During her arraignment on Dec. 3, Judge John Paul Chappell entered a not guilty plea for Hayley F. Byerly, 20, who is charged with third-degree criminal trespassing, leaving scene of an accident/failure to render aid, receiving stolen property value $10,000 or more, and two counts of second-degree wanton endangerment.
