The Williamsburg-Lynn Camp high school football game, which had been scheduled for Friday night in Williamsburg, has been canceled. We Rock Sports is reporting that Lynn Camp has forfeited the match-up because it doesn't have enough healthy players. The game would have been Williamsburg's senior night. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association already has Williamsburg officially winning the game 1-0 as a result of the forfeit. Williamsburg's next game is an away game at Perry County Central. The forfeit means that Williamsburg is undefeated in the district and will be the number one seed in the district when the playoffs start Nov. 5, and it will be hosting the first round playoff game...

Williamsburg picked up a quality win Friday night with a 21-14 victory against Somerset. While most people will look at the Briar Jumpers’ 1-5 record and wonder how it is considered a quality win, losing to Beechwood, Paintsville, Corbin and now Williamsburg is like a college team lining up against Alabama, Clemson and Georgia. All four local high school teams will be in action at home this week. Coming off of their bye week, the undefeated Corbin Redhounds will host class 6A Simon Kenton out of northern Kentucky. The Pioneers are 1-4 on the season with the losses coming to Oldham County, Highlands, Southwestern and Beechwood. Corbin is two weeks removed from the 52-6 victory over Somerset in which the Redhounds put up 388 yards of total offense while holding the Briar Jumpers to 98 yards. Corbin Redhounds’ kicker Jacob Baker is the top ranked kicker in the state, according to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. Baker is six-of-seven on the season, including a new school record 51-yarder in the season opener against Christ School, and a 44-yarder against Franklin County. The one miss occurred Friday night against Somerset when Coach Tom Greer elected to send Baker out to try a 57-yard kick with seconds remaining in the first half. The kick fell short. “First of all. Whitley County and Williamsburg High School football teams will be in action at home Friday night while Corbin will have a week off to enjoy its 5-0 start. Whitley County hung with visiting Bell County early, but couldn’t overcome the 22-8 halftime deficit as the Colonels fell to the Bobcats, 36-22. “Our team played hard throughout the game,” said Coach Zeke Eier. “I’m proud of their effort. Corbin Redhounds’ kicker Jacob Baker is the top ranked field goal kicker in the state according to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. Baker is five-for-five on the season, including a new school record 51-yarder in the season opener against Christ School, and 44-yarder against Franklin County. Baker is averaging 1.2 field goals per game, tying him with Lexington Catholic’s Max DeGraff. Baker ranks 21st in extra points, hitting 17 of 17 on the season and averaging 4.2 extra points per game.
