Celebrating Independence Day

Gatliff Chapter of the Sons of the Revolution and the William Whitley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met on Monday, July 4 to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.  SAR President Herman Moore presented a brief program on the events leading up to the day the colonists declared their independence.  After the program, the group gathered around the replica of the Liberty Bell located in front of the Hutton School of Business on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands.  At left, SAR President Herman Moore is shown ringing the bell 13 times in recognition of the 13 original colonies.
