Charles H. Tharpe of Williamsburg, KY, formerly of Madison Heights, MI, went to his Heavenly home on July 24, 2024.
He was born in Emlyn, KY on October 17, 1938.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Woodall; parents, Jess Tharpe and Edith Tharpe; and his brother, Bill Tharpe.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Louise Ball Tharpe; son, Robert Tharpe (Deanna); grandsons, Jacob Pelley (Lauren), Justin Tharpe (Nicki), Adam Pelley (Jessica), Daniel Tharpe, Michael Pelley (Anna), Kyle Woodall, Brandon Woodall; great-grandchildren, Emmy, Amelia, Foster, Colston, John, Jack, Elouise, Courtland, and Deacon; son-in-law, Sean Woodall; one sister, Marlene Byrd, and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.
In addition to being an avid fisherman and hunter, Charles loved serving the Lord. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher for over 50 years, as well as singing in church.
He served his country in the U.S. Army and later retired from Ford Motor Company in Sterling Heights, MI after 32 years. After retirement, Charles spent his time hunting, fishing, and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a member and a deacon of Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church.
The Tharpe Family would like to thank Bro. Josh Bowman and Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church for all they’ve done to help during Charles’s sickness.
Funeral service was Sunday, July 28, at the Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Josh Bowman and Bro. Jonathan Bowman officiating. Interment was in the Cumberland Freewill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church at P.O. Box 715 Williamsburg, KY. 40769.
Pallbearers were Jacob Pelley, Adam Pelley, Michael Pelley, Justin Tharpe, Michael Ball, Jimmy Ball, Roger Richardson, Jake Wilson, Todd Shelley, and Sean Woodall.
