Colonel Sanders Half Marathon committee donates $10,000

Date:

The Corbin Backpack Program received a $10,000 donation Monday.

The donation was the result of funds raised during the Colonel Sanders Half Marathon in November.

Corbin Backpack Program Board Chair Doris Moore said the $10,000 donation will buy lots of food to feed students in the area.

The program serves approximately 700 students per school week.

The backpack program provides food for students who are in need over the weekend. The backpacks include a variety of items for several meals for students over the weekend.

The program serves students in Knox and Whitley counties.

The organization is a 501c3 and is primarily funded through donations.

Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen presented the check to the group on behalf of the Colonel Sanders Half Marathon Committee.

Committee members include Marc Estep, Kyle Rogers, Jeff Chadwell, Rusty Hedrick, Chris Jones, Tommy Smith and Monhollen.
