Corbin BOE hires district officers to fill in for missing SROs

Date:

Corbin Independent Schools hired several new school resource officers last week who were intended to work on a per diem basis, though as of Monday, all are currently on full-time patrol within the district.

The hirings came following a special-called Thursday meeting of the Corbin Independent Board of Education, where the board approved creation of the positions and job description for district security officers. The position differs slightly from traditional SROs that have been used for years at area schools in that they are employees of the school district itself, not the local police department.
