Corbin City Utilities Commission plans Sept. 6 hydrant flushing

Date:

If your water comes from the Corbin City Utilities Commission (CUC), then you might not want to wash any white clothing on Sept. 6.

CUC announced Monday that beginning Sept. 6 it would be flushing all hydrants in the entire water distribution system to remove any sediment that may have collected in the waterlines.

The good news is that your water will still be safe to drink. The bad news is that during this period of time water users may experience low water pressure for short periods of time and/or discolored water.

“All users are encouraged to check the color of their water before washing clothes. Discolored water may stain white clothes. Run water continuously for several minutes until discoloration is gone,” CUC General Manager Ronald W. Herd wrote in a public service message to users.

Flushing will continue until the complete water distribution system has been flushed. Users are encouraged to monitor the CUC webpage for updates at http://www.corbinutilities.com/.
