Corbin FD continued streak of consistency with number of calls responded to in ‘24

If the Corbin Fire Department had a middle name, then it might be consistency.

Overall, the Corbin Fire Department responded to nearly the exact same volume of runs in 2024 as it did in 2023 and 2022, according to a News Journal analysis of the run volume reports for the department.

The Corbin Fire Department responded to a total of 1,174 calls in 2024 compared to 1,170 calls in 2023 and 1,164 calls in 2022, according to the reports.

The format of the reports differs slightly, but some categories remained the same in reports for 2024 and 2023.

Corbin firefighters responded to 28 structure fire in 2024, which is seven more than in 2023. They responded to 478 EMS or medical calls compared to 449 in 2023.

In 2024, firefighters responded to 165 vehicle collisions, which was one less than in 2023. They responded to 16 vehicle fires in 2024 compared to seven in 2023.

They responded to 208 fire/smoke alarms in 2024 compared to 43 in 2023.

Also in 2024, Corbin firefighters also responded to 19 wildland/rubbish fires, 206 public assistance emergency/non-emergency calls, 19 hazmat calls, 19 special operations calls and five fire “other” calls.
