The Corbin Kiwanis Club awarded scholarships to six graduating seniors this year, with each student receiving $1,000 upon providing proof of college admission.
Recipients included four graduating seniors from Corbin High School and two graduating seniors from Lynn Camp High School.
Scholarship recipients include Cambree Prewitt and Matthew Garrison from Lynn Camp High School, and Keegan Reeder, Hannah Perry, Riley Grace Lewis, and Emely Colchado from Corbin High School.
The Kiwanis Club, formed 104 years ago, focuses on providing support and improving the lives of the youth. Each club is made up of volunteers who raise money to support projects that help young members of the community.
Corbin Kiwanis Club includes President Paul Matney, Treasurer Joyce Bowling, and Secretary Barbara Logan.
“Every year, it just lifts my spirits to interview and see the young people coming up,” Matney said. “I salute the teachers, administrators, and staff of both schools. It was difficult to have to choose, but that’s a wonderful thing to know that we have so many good kids coming up in our community.”
