A Corbin man was arrested Monday evening for allegedly raping a woman at McBurney Manor Apartments.
Twenty-one-year-old Cody Brown is facing one count of first-degree rape in connection with the incident.
Corbin Police were called to the apartment complex on Master Street about 5 p.m. in response to the complaint.
Based on the investigation, police secured a warrant and arrested Brown at Sonny’s BBQ in Corbin where he worked.
According to the arrest citation, Baird allegedly forced the victim into a bedroom, forced off her clothes and then had sexual intercourse with her.
Corbin Police Detective Bill Rose, who is leading the investigation, said Brown is not a resident at McBurney Manor, but declined to go into detail about how Brown knew the victim or details about the victim in order to protect her identity.
Rose also declined to release details of the nature of the crime.
Under Kentucky Law, first-degree rape is defined as engaging in sexual intercourse with another person by force or engaging in intercourse with another person who is incapable of consent because the person is physically helpless or is under the age of 12.
First-degree rape is a class B felony, carrying a potential prison sentence of 10 to 20 years.
Rose said police believe Brown acted alone.
Brown is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Knox District Court.
