Corbin Police investigating theft at Waffle House

Corbin Police are investigating a theft that occurred Monday morning at the Waffle House off of exit 25.

Police were called to the restaurant on Cumberland Falls Hwy. in response to a complaint that an lone individual had gained entry to the restaurant through a back door, got into the office and cleaned out the safe.

Corbin Police Detective Coy Wilson said an employee had gone out the door to smoke, leaving it unsecured.

“He was dressed all in black with his face covered,” Wilson said of the thief who was captured on video.

Wilson said the thief was in an out within a few minutes.

“The other employees were at the front of the store,” Wilson said when asked if anyone else was inside the restaurant at the time.

Wilson said the investigation is continuing.
