Corbin Rotary Club hosting bicycle rodeo at NIBROC

Date:

The Corbin Rotary Club will be hosting a Bicycle Rodeo from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11 at the NIBROC Festival.

Rotarians will be working the rodeo along with Mike Hale, owner of Mike’s Bike and Hike.

Hale will be offering bicycle safety lessons to children. He will teach them turning signals and other safety rules.

Rotarians will also help children get helmets fitted. Helmets will be given away, but there is a limited quantity; Baptist Health Corbin donated the helmets.

The Bicycle Rodeo will also feature a riding course that children are encouraged to try. Individuals must bring their own bicycles. Bikes will not be provided.

Children will also receive a free bicycle safety comic book from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Corbin Rotary Club President Lee Parks, said several of the Rotarians are bicyclists and they wanted to get involved in NIBROC. By hosting a bicycle rodeo and teaching children about bicycle safety, the Rotarians were able to combine their passion for the Rotary Club, NIBROC and Bicycling to bring a fun, new event to NIBROC.

Individuals interested in the event should go to the City Hall Parking Lot on Saturday.
