A Corbin woman is behind bars after allegedly showing up at the probation office with a bottle of fake urine.

About 10:35 p.m. on Oct. 5, Williamsburg Police Detective Bobby Freeman charged Samantha Jo Petrey, also known as Samantha Jo Lawson, 27, of Corbin, with tampering with physical evidence.

The arrest was made after police were contacted by Probation and Parole Officer Angie Ballou about an incident at her office, according to the arrest citation.

When Petrey went to the office, she was allegedly asked to give a urine sample for a drug screen.

“During the test, she had a bottle of fake urine in a pill bottle,” Freeman wrote on the arrest citation.

Petrey pleaded not guilty to the charge during her arraignment Thursday afternoon in Whitley District Court.

An Oct. 17 preliminary hearing has been scheduled in her case.
