CUC investing in safer water treatment method

The Corbin City Utilities Commission (CUC) will be upgrading its water treatment method from chlorine gas to a safer bleach disinfection system in about one year, according to CUC General Manager Ron Herd.

Corbin City Utilities Commission General Manager Ron Herd spoke during Monday’s Corbin City Commission meeting about a $2.9 million loan to change the utility’s water treatment method.

“It will be a lot safer,” he said.
