Curd named to Prichard Committee

Date:

Kentucky community and business leaders, including a Corbin woman, are among the six new members elected to The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence by its membership during its annual business meeting on Oct. 28 at Berea College.

Joining the Prichard Committee as new members are: Whitley County’s Dr. Sandi Curd, Fayette County’s Terence Clemons, Campbell County’s Gayle Hilleke, Fayette County’s Laurel Raimondo Martin, Madison County’s Haley McCoy and Marshall County’s Jennifer Washburn.

“It is a privilege to serve an organization with such an outstanding reputation. I look forward to shining a spotlights on the great educational achievements from Whitley County’s stellar school districts,” Curd said.

The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence is an independent, nonpartisan, citizen-led organization working to improve education in Kentucky – early childhood through postsecondary.

“Over the course of the last seven years, we’ve worked hard to expand the Committee’s membership to more areas of the state and to bring more diversity of age, race, gender, and perspective to the Committee’s work to improve education outcomes and the economic well-being of Kentuckians,” said Brigitte Blom, President and CEO of the Prichard Committee.

“I’m proud of the now 150 members representing 42 Kentucky counties and the diverse array of backgrounds in our state. The Committee is actively grounding itself in the next generation of leadership with the power to be a continued force for vastly improved education outcomes resulting in shared prosperity for all Kentuckians.”
