With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Daniel (Redbone) McKinney, who left us on October 3, 2024.
Born on August 26, 1948, in Corbin, Kentucky, Daniel was a man of strength, fortitude, and an unwavering spirit.
His life’s journey was an embodiment of the words of Mark Twain, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” Daniel was a dedicated worker at Wayne Supply Company for over 44 years, his steadfast commitment and diligence serving as an inspiration to many. His culinary talents were well-known, and he particularly enjoyed cooking for “Singing in the Hills” at Laurel Lake Baptist Camp.
Daniel is survived by his children, Danielle (Albert) Jackson, John (Jenny) McKinney, and Vanessa (Hampton) King. He was a cherished grandfather, to Josh (Haley) McKinney, Madison McKinney, Nathan (Lauren) Jackson, Allison Jackson, Austin (Nidhi) McKinney, Hayden McKinney, and Jonathan McKinney. Daniel was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Riley, Baylor, Everett, Lakyn, and Sawyer McKinney. He leaves behind his brother, Tom (Karen) McKinney, sister, Carrie Huddleston and sister-in -laws, Betty McKinney, Theresa McKinney, and Lorene Buttree. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leona (Faulkner) McKinney; his beloved wife, Regina (Lewis) McKinney; his siblings, Wilbert, Bob, and Johnny McKinney, and Phyllis McKinney; sister-in-law, Daily McKinney; and brother-in-law, Rev. Lowell Huddleston.
Funeral service was Monday, October 7, at Croley Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Interment followed at Ryan Cemetery, in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
