Deputies find meth, marijuana, pills, real and counterfeit currency in north Corbin hotel room Thursday

A report of suspected drug activity at a north Corbin hotel Thursday morning led to the seizure of methamphetamine marijuana and pills along with counterfeit and real U.S. currency.

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested John L. Lykins III, 31, of Somerset on charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – methamphetamine – second offense, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said deputies were called to the scene at the unidentified hotel at approximately 2:55 a.m.

Inside the room, where Lykins was staying, deputies located the methamphetamine and marijuana, pills, digital scales and the real and counterfeit cash.

In addition, Acciardo said that Lykins had a handgun.

Lykins was taken into custody and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
