Deputy jailer allegedly offered $150 to smuggle drugs, tobacco to murder suspect

A Williamsburg woman allegedly tried to pay a Whitley County deputy jailer $150 to smuggle drugs and tobacco to her son in the Whitley County Detention Center Saturday evening. Unknown to her, the deputy jailer had reported the bribery attempt to his boss and Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies were waiting to arrest her when she showed up with the contraband, according to court documents and a sheriff’s department release.
