Eddie Layne Bowman, age 75, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025 at his home. He was born March 28, 1950 in Jellico, TN, to the late George Anderson and Mae Lawson Bowman.
Eddie and Princess Bowman had been married since August 30, 1969.
Eddie became a carpenter following his dads footprints. He worked for 50 plus years doing carpenter work for many friends and families. Eddie served in the National Guard for six and a half years. He loved the USA and respected all branches of service. He loved his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Williamsburg. He would say his work was incomplete if he had to miss Sunday School Class for medical reasons.
Eddie was a 1969 graduate of Whitley County High School. He loved his shop class taught by Albert Lee and Arthur Jeffries. Throughout his marriage he had many animals. It was mostly dogs. He took care of them like children. His remark was you could count on an individual if they were kind to animals. Many days he and Dr. Culver would sit and cry together when one was passing over the rainbow. He tried to help anyone as much as possible.
Eddie was a member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge F&AM #490. He became a member on August 27, 1977.
Eddie and Princess were members of Crouches Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Princess Bowman; siblings, Charles E. Bowman (Lois) of Indianapolis, IN, Denny W. Bowman (LaDonna) of Corbin, KY, Ruth Ann Bowlin (Jerome) of Williamsburg, KY; aunts, Shirley Paul of Williamsburg, KY, Nora Bowlin of Pensacola, FL; nephews, Chris Bowman (Leslie) of Indianapolis, IN, Jay Bowling (Susan) of Zionsville, IN, Brandon Bowman of Corbin, KY; nieces, Brittany D. Bowman of Lexington, KY, Angela Hancock of Somerset, KY, Amy Bramble of Corbin, KY; several friends and family to mourn his passing.
Funeral service was Thursday, December 18, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Shannon officiating.
Williamsburg Masonic Lodge 490 F&AM confered masonic rites prior to funeral service at the funeral home.
Graveside service was Friday, December 19, at Highland Park Cemetery Ellison Addition with Rev. Jeremy Shannon officiating. Interment followed directly after the graveside service. Jellico Honor Guard conducted Military Graveside Honors prior to the graveside service at Highland Park Cemetery Ellison Addition.
Pallbearers were Johnny Mac Trammell, Michael Paul, Brandon Bowman, Tim Lawson, Dan Ballou, Paul Winchester, John Goley, and Dr. Mike Culver.
Honorary pallbearers were First Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class, Mike Jones, Lamon Lawson, Steve Garrett, and Johnny Rains.
