Elliott County 75, Shelby Valley 69

Date:

A hard fought win for the Lions of Elliott County, 75-69. Thanks to the play of Elisha Justice and Tyler Newsome Shelby Valley took the lead at 37-34 and held that margin until Ethan Faulkner tied the game on two free throws, 44-44.

A three by Jonathan Ferguson put the Lions ahead to stay. They were able to drop 10 of 18 free throws in the final two minutes to hold off the Wildcats, who had beaten Elliott County in the Small School Classic.

Four Lions scored in double figures, Ethan Faulkner 17, twin brother, Evan 11. Ferguson and Chris Knipp 16 points each. Evan and Knipp had double-doubles with 12 and 11 rebounds.

I’m glad to see Elliott County move on to keep their “Hoosiers” theme alive. They will need a little magic against Cov. Holmes.
