Evelyn Reynolds Cox went home to Heaven at 9:00 am on Wednesday, January 28.
Mother lived a long life she was 97 years young as she used to say. She went to college when she was 29 years old and finished in three years. She began her teaching career in one of the last one room schools, she taught for over 34 years for Whitley County School District.
She was a long time member of Highland Park Missionary Baptist Church in Williamsburg. Mother was born May 28, 1928, to Richard and Mary Monhollen Reynolds.
She was one of five children, three brothers and a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Clyde Cox; brothers and wives, Walter Kay (Chloe), Vester (Eva), Eulis and her sister Alma Jean Irvin and husband Cullen; and two sons-in-law, Karl Anderson and Jerry Warfield.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Cox Warfield of Milford, Ohio and Cheryl Cox Erven (Craig) of Highland Heights, Ky, one granddaughter Jennifer Wolverton and husband Chris, two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Renea and Jack Benjamin Wolverton; and one sister-in-law, Hester Reynolds.
Services will be held on Saturday February 7 at Ellison Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 11:00 am and funeral will be at 1 pm with Reverend Doyle Lester presiding. Burial will be in Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
