Exterior restoration of French Broad River complete

Date:

Restoration of the exterior of the “French Broad River” Pullman car is complete.

Jeff Conner, of Greenville, Pennsylvania, is responsible for the restoration.

Conner began work on the car on June 23 and finished the process June 25.

Conner, who owns Railcar and Military Equipment Painting said he averages about 25 train restorations a year. His first restoration was in his hometown of Greenville.

The French Broad River is a ten roomette and six double bedroom sleeper car built by the Pullman-Standard Manufacturing Co. in 1949.

“We are so pleased with the quality of work Jeff performed on the French Broad River,” said Corbin Tourism Director Maggy Monhollen. “While we still have just a few minor details to take care of, as a whole, she looks so much better! We are excited to have the opportunity to historically restore her to be enjoyed by future generations.”
