Five indicted for flagrant non-support

The Knox County Grand Jury has indicted five people for failing to pay their child support for no less than six consecutive months and/or for an arrearage of $1,000 or more, according to indictments.

  • Erica Renea Makula, 27, of Corbin – flagrant non-support (one child).
  • Daryl Michael Thompson, 47, of Covington – flagrant non-support (three children).
  • Christopher Ray Stoots, 45, Barbourville – flagrant non-support (one child).
  • Christopher Ray Stoots, 45, of Barbourville – flagrant non-support (one child). (Editor’s note: Each of Stoots’ indictments involve a different child).
  • Chad Burton Cole, 42, of Melvin – flagrant non-support (one child).
  • Brandon Glenn Basinger, 40, of Bimble – flagrant non-support (two children) and second-degree persistent felony offender. He has a prior felony conviction in Knox County in reference to a 2011 case.

An indictment is a formal charge by a grand jury; it is not a conviction or admission of guilt.
