Former Ellison Funeral Home Owner Marie Paul laid to rest

Date:

Funeral services were held Tuesday evening for former Ellison Funeral Home owner Ruth “Marie” Paul, who passed away Friday at age of 84 at Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Marie Paul and her late husband, Carl Paul, purchased Ellison Funeral Home on May 1, 1971, and owned the business until Marie sold it on Jan. 1, 2014.

“She was just a good hearted person. She would help anybody she could,” noted current Ellison Funeral Home Owner Crayton Ellison, who had known Marie Paul since he was in eighth grade.

Her two sons, Richard “Dicky” Paul and Jim Paul, also preceded Marie Paul in death. Nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren in addition to a host of other relatives and friends survive her.

The funeral service was held Tuesday evening at Ellison Funeral Home with Rev. James Hodge officiating.

A graveside service was held Wednesday morning at Highland Cemetery.
