Former WCHS Lady Colonel recognized for outstanding performance as nurse at BHC

Baptist Health Corbin has announced that Abbey Estes-Logan, RN, has been honored with the DAISY Award, a distinguished recognition program created to express gratitude to nurses everywhere. This award celebrates the dedication, resilience, and compassion exemplified by outstanding nursing professionals across Kentucky.

The DAISY Award acknowledges the vital role nurses play in providing not only clinical excellence but also kindness and empathy to patients and their families. By gathering nominations from patients, families, and colleagues, the DAISY Foundation ensures that exceptional nurses are celebrated for their profound impact on healthcare.

A dedicated member of the Baptist Health team for nearly three years, Estes-Logan is known for her exceptional work ethic and positive spirit. Outside of her role in critical care, she enjoys a fulfilling life with her husband, cherishing time spent with her family and her golden doodle, Winnie. She is also an active member of her church, finding strength and inspiration in her faith and community.

“Abbey always goes above and beyond for her patients. She is a true advocate for both patients and their families. Her strong work ethic and positive attitude make her an invaluable member of our team,” said Eric Willis, Director of Critical Care Services. “It’s an honor to work alongside her.”

As a student-athlete at Whitley County High School, Estes-Logan excelled in multiple sports, particularly on the basketball court. As a senior during the 2017-18 season, she helped lead the Lady Colonels to a 25-7 overall record and an appearance in the 13th Region Tournament semifinals while averaging 15 points per game.

After high school, Estes-Logan went on to enjoy a successful collegiate career, playing for four years at the University of the Cumberlands.
