One person was airlifted from the scene and three others, including an infant, were taken by ambulance after a Chrysler 300 T-boned a Pontiac Grand Am in Keavy Thursday afternoon.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Public Affairs Officer Gilbert Acciardo said about 3:30 p.m. the Pontiac driven by Heather Blackwood, 18, of Corbin, pulled out from Level Green Road as the Chrysler driven by Branson Johnson, 39, of Keavy, approached the intersection. The impact in the right side of the Pontiac sent it sliding into the ditchline while the Chrysler overturned onto its roof.
Keavy Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate Donnie Brock, 21, of Corbin from the Pontiac. Brock was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The other passenger in the Pontiac was an 11-month-old girl. Acciardo said she was in a child safety seat. Bystanders cared for her while emergency personnel worked to extricate Brock.
Johnson, Blackwood and the child were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Ky. 312 was closed to traffic in both directions as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
Deputy John Inman is investigating the crash. He was assisted at the scene by Deputy Tim Smallwood, Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, Keavy Firefighters and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
