From my personal archives

Date:

Henkelmen

Since this space on our website gives me an area to just write about anything I want to, I figured I would share some of the stuff from my past here at the News Journal that a few readers may be interested in seeing.

In a dozen years, I’ve amassed a lot of stuff, so to speak. I have a huge personal archive of photos I have taken that are among my favorites. If I take a picture of something, and I think it is particularly cool, I stash it away in the archive so it can be easily accessed.

The picture above is an example of that. It was take in 1999 and is of Reinhold Henkelmann, one of a family of curators of the Henkelmann Life Sciences Museum at the Cumberland Inn in Williamsburg. I love the lighting and, of course, the large polar bear looming behind Mr. Henkelmann. The photo was awarded by the Kentucky Press Association so I am sort of proud of it. I’ll post more in the future.
