History in the making

Date:

The Whitley County Colonels played their first-ever soccer game at their new stadium off highway 25. The Colonels played the Pulaski County Maroons in the opener. In the first half the Colonels defense was perfect for the first 30 minutes. A Pulaski County score with 9:11 left in the opening half gave the visitors a slim, 1-0 lead. At press-time the Colonels trailed by one. The Lady Colonels also opened their season, also a first and trailed Wayne County at the half, 2-0.

Check back Thursday for more details of the two games. You can view photos of the boys’ game at our News Journal facebook.
