I-75 Exit 15 southbound on ramp to open, northbound off ramp now closed

Date:

Nearly a month after being closed, the southbound on ramp at Exit 15 in Whitley County is on track to reopen this weekend, though the northbound off ramp has now been closed.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet confirmed Tuesday that the ongoing road work that began early last month at the exit’s I-75 southbound on ramp is expected to meet its anticipated completion of June 5. However, the KYTC also announced that the northbound off ramp is closed beginning Tuesday morning through Sunday, June 26.

The closure is necessary to allow contractors to perform pavement operations for the Roundabouts Project at the intersection of I-75.

The project, which was proposed late last year, will consist of two mini-roundabouts that are smaller versions of the traditional roundabout. The difference is the mini-roundabout has just one lane. There will be one mini-roundabout on each side of the bridge over I-75 at Exit 15.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
