James Edward Moses, age 83, of Emlyn, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky. James was born on October 8, 1938 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Elisha and Imogene (Owens) Moses. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Robert James Moses; son-in-law, Robert A. Lenz Sr.; brothers, Charles Moses, Eddy Moses and Ronnie Moses; and sisters, Marietta Weaver, Faye Santiago, Nina Jean Angles and an infant sister.
James loved to whittle and spend time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Elaine (Biannchi) Moses of Emlyn; two children, Mary Truax (Stephen) of Cleveland, Ohio and Elizabeth Moses Lenz of Massillon, Ohio; five grandchildren, Robert A. Smiddy Jr., John L. Smiddy (Becca), Michael B. Smiddy (Chrissy), Robert A. Lenz Jr. (Emily) and Joseph S. Truax; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah Smiddy, Grace Smiddy, Elijah Smiddy, Caroline Smiddy, Michael Smiddy Jr., Samantha Burges, James Truax and Adelaide Lenz; sister, Dottie Ann Moses of Goshen, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 27, at Croley Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 28, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Landes and Rev. Ray Landes officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Croley Addition of Highland Park Cemetery.
