James “Homer” Monhollen

James “Homer” Monhollen, 81, of Corbin, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Baptist Health in Lexington.

Homer had been a machinist for General Electric, was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lake and Eva Nantz Monhollen, infant son Michael R. Monhollen, brother Arlis Monhollen, sister Billie McBrayer, and brothers-in-law Sonny King and Glen Messer.

Homer is survived by his wife Janie Monhollen, sons Darrin Monhollen (Tamala) and Bradley Monhollen, grandchildren Michael D. Monhollen, Zack Monhollen, and Caintlin Monhollen, brother Allen Monhollen (Jean), sisters Wanda Rose (Howard) and Janice King, brother-in-law Robert Messer, and by several nieces, nephews, family and friends who mourn his passing.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating.

Burial will be in the Jessie Monhollen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Gideons.
