Quarterback Mason Salmons threw three touchdown passes in the win over the Lakers. Senior Cam Estep caught two of those, and junior Tayton Cox caught one.
Salmons also recorded the Hounds’ only rushing TD of the night.
The Corbin defense proved impenetrable, with junior Silas Mahan leading the way with five solo tackles. Senior Max Farmer also snagged an interception, taking it all the way to the house for a defensive score.
This week, the Redhounds will be back in action on their home turf as they welcome the Lincoln County Patriots to Campbell Field.
The Patriots will come to Corbin boasting a 9-2 overall record, with their two losses this season coming against Class 4A powers Franklin County (35-13 on Sept. 26) and Boyle County (48-7 on Oct. 17). The team appears to have a balanced offensive attack, with junior quarterback Tucker Foster averaging 126 yards per game through the air and a pair of senior running backs – Damon Spigle and Reed Curlis – combining for a total of 1,375 yards on the ground so far this season.
Foster is Lincoln County’s third-leading rusher, and has recorded the most rushing touchdowns of anyone on the team (14). His favorite passing target is senior Bryce Floyd, who has caught passes for nine scores this season.
Lincoln County defeated Perry County Central in round one, 49-14.
The Hounds versus the Pats will kick off at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 14. The winner will advance to play for a regional championship in round three next week.
