A suspicious vehicle complaint in the parking lot of a Corbin church last week led to the recovery of a truck reported stolen out of Laurel County and the arrest of a Tennessee man wanted on an escape charge out of Louisville.
Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the individual, who was later identified as Mark Andrew Alban, 48, of Knoxville, Tennessee, outside the Park Hill Church in Corbin on charges of DUI, second-degree disorderly conduct, giving an officer false identifying information, menacing, and theft by unlawful taking of the value over $10,000.
Deputy William Stewart, the department’s public affairs officer, stated that Deputy Bobby Jones was called to the church at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Dec. 24 following a report of a truck parked beside the church.
“After arriving at the church, Deputy Jones observed the driver of the vehicle laying down inside the truck,” Stewart stated adding that Jones determined the man was under the influence and the truck was stolen.
Stewart said when the man was asked his name, he provided Jones with a fictitious one.
After his identity was revealed, deputies learned Alban was wanted on one count of second-degree escape out of Jefferson County.
He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
