KSP, coroner’s office on scene of fatal Rockholds’ blaze

Date:

Kentucky State Police, the Whitley County Coroner’s Office and numerous volunteer fire departments are on the scene of a fatal house fire in the Rockholds’ community.

The structure fire was first reported about 2:41 p.m. at a 74 Gail Hart Road residence, which is located less than one mile from the intersection of Tye’s Ferry Road.

Rockholds, Woodbine, Oak Grove, Patterson Creek and Goldbug volunteer fire departments all responded to the scene.

Neighbors said a couple lived at the residence. One neighbor reported seeing a man leave the home about 11 a.m. Friday.

Other neighbors said they had not seen anyone at the home in a couple of days.

The intense blaze gutted the single story home, which had a basement.

As of 5 p.m., firefighters were still working to extinguish the blaze.

So far, firefighters haven’t indicated what they think caused the fire.

Kentucky State Police are investigating the case along with Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley.

More details will be released as they become available.
