Kentucky State Police (KSP) recently rescued victims of a domestic violence situation in Laurel County, and a Corbin man is now behind bars as a result, according to a KSP release.

The incident happened about 1:00 p.m. on July 9 when a juvenile used a 911-only phone to report the situation. Laurel County 911 initially received the call and then transferred it to KSP.
When troopers arrived at the TIB Drive residence, troopers were unable to make contact and proceeded to make forcible entry into the residence. Inside, they located Brandon Lee Lunsford, 36, of Corbin, according to the release.
“Lunsford was holding his spouse and juvenile children against their will in an attempt to avoid apprehension. The troopers acted quickly to secure the victims’ safety and took the suspect into custody without further incident,” the release stated.
KSP Trooper Jack Riley arrested Lunsford charging him with first-degree strangulation (domestic violence related), fourth-degree assault (domestic violence minor injury), and three counts of second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
Lunsford was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center at 3:37 p.m. on July 9 where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond, according to the detention center’s website.
Lunsford pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment Friday morning in Laurel District Court before Judge Skip Hammons Jr., who scheduled a July 15 preliminary hearing in his case.
As of 9 a.m. Saturday, Lunsford remained in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
