Ky. Primary Care Association representative available Friday to help with healthcare.gov enrollment

The insurance market set up through the Affordable Care Act can be a daunting thing to navigate, but help will be available Friday in Corbin courtesy of the Kentucky Primary Care Association.

The not-for-profit organization made up for health centers, rural health clinics and primary care centers, will have a representative on hand at The Corbin Center from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday to answer insurance questions.

Whitney Allen, Coordinator of Community Development and Outreach, said open enrollment through healthcare.gov in ongoing through Dec. 15.

The organization holds multiple events throughout the state in an effort to assist people in selecting the best health insurance options.

In an effort to have the processes go smoother, Allen said individuals are encouraged to have their household information available including the names and dates of birth of the family members, Social Security numbers, and household income.

“They may be eligible for discounts through healthcare.gov,” Allen said.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
